Cuyuna Lakes Family Trip Guide
Day 1: Arrival and Outdoor Education
– Start your day with a visit to Cuyuna Country State Recreation Area. Explore the picturesque hiking and mountain biking trails and enjoy the beautiful scenery of the lakes and forests. If you have young children, visit the paved trail or drive up the mountain and have a picnic on Miners Mountain with a scenic overlook.
– Next, head over to Ironton and stop at High Wheel Confectionary, where they have ice cream, kids’ toys, and a wide variety of candy. While you’re in Ironton, you can try outdoor pickleball or visit Grandpa’s playground located in the heart of Ironton.
– In the evening, unwind and relax at one of the local restaurants or cafes in the area. With plenty of diverse options in the area, there is something for even the pickiest eaters. Check out our “Where to Eat” section to find your next favorite.
Day 2: Water Activities and Family Fun
– Spend the day at Crosby Memorial Park, where you can enjoy swimming, picnicking, and water activities on Serpent Lake. Rent a paddleboard or kayak and explore the serene waters together. If you’re visiting in winter, check out local cross-country skiing or snowshoeing trails. If there is enough ice, you could also try your hand at ice fishing!
– After a fun-filled day at the lake or in the snow, visit the Milford Mine Historical Park to learn about the area’s mining history. Or visit historic Main Street Crosby and enjoy hot chocolate while browsing our charming stores.
– Wrap up the day with a cozy campfire at a nearby campground or at your accommodation. Share stories, roast marshmallows, and enjoy quality family time under the starry night sky. If it’s too cold, spend time playing games as a family or find a local event to attend.
Day 3: Local Culture and Relaxation
– Start your day with a visit to the Soo Line Museum to discover the rich history and culture of the area. Engage in interactive exhibits and learn about the local traditions and community.
– After checking out the local culture and traditions, why not treat the family to a fun day at a nearby park or playground? It’s a great chance to enjoy some quality time together—playing outdoor games, having a picnic, or just taking a nice stroll around. If it’s too chilly outside, no worries! You can head over to Cuyuna Brewing, where you can sip on some delicious craft brews while having fun with the games they have set up.
– Before departing, take a scenic drive around the Cuyuna Lakes Area to admire the natural beauty and perhaps stop for a family photoshoot at one of the picturesque spots.
